Whilst equipping the laboratory, only equipment providing the best level of accuracy and precision is purchased. This philosophy extends from sample preparation through to the latest ICP and XRF instrumentation, which provides simultaneous analysis of many elements.
Laboratory automation is continually being evaluated at Ultra Trace to provide more efficient processes that also result in more reliable analytical results from our company. Ultra Trace is the first laboratory in the world to implement a robotic sample preparation cell capable of preparing in excess of 1000 samples per day, each up to four kilograms in weight, in a single pass. Following this, Ultra Trace has installed a robotically serviced sample fusion system to prepare fusion beads for XRF analysis; production rates of 2000 samples per day are being achieved. Application of robotics to new processes is continually being investigated. Ultra Trace have also led the way in application of Fourier Transform Infra-Red analysis of mineral samples. This technique holds great potential for cost effective determination of both elemental and mineralogical properties of mineral samples.
