Sample Preparation Robotic System

The sample preparation section of the laboratory is arguably the most important part of a laboratory's operation. If the sample preparation is not correct the rest of the analysis is wrong. While many laboratory sample preparation areas are a dusty, noisy and difficult environment to work in, where cross-contamination is a possibility, at Ultra Trace samples are handled robotically to minimise the possibility of cross-contamination or mix-up of samples. This vigilant approach was deemed necessary by the company, particularly for low-level detection work that requires first class quality control.

After extensive development, Ultra Trace was able to modify an LM-5 pulveriser so that the pulveriser bowl could be removable. This opened the way for samples to be handled robotically. As Ultra Trace still uses established milling systems, they are still able to process large samples in a single pass.

Ultra Trace's clients are the main beneficiaries of this new and innovative system. Samples are being handled with 21st century technology, enabling an even higher standard of accuracy and reliability to be achieved.
