Partial Digest - Conc. HCI
This "Partial Leach" of the sample is a more rigorous attack that will dissolve all of the amorphous Iron and Manganese and will also dissolve a significant portion of any crystalline Iron phases. This makes it more useful in the analysis of stream sediments where the more soluble phases may be absent. This method also extracts some of the more refractory elements such as Tungsten, Thorium, Zirconium, Tin etc. Detection limits may be influenced by the nature of the samples (eg High Iron, Calcium etc). Other elements may be included if relevant, including all of the rare earths. Detection limits are very low and in general, all elements will be present in detectable quantities. This technique is often coupled with the "Micro Cyanide Leach" which provides a more stable Gold result at low levels.
