Screen Fire Assay
This method is typically used to analyse samples containing "coarse" gold particles. One kilogram of the sample is screened through a 150µm sieve. The +150µm portion (including the sieve cloth), is analysed by Fire Assay to determine the coarse gold content. The -150µm portion is analysed in duplicate by Fire Assay to determine the non-coarse gold content. A weighted average is then calculated to determine the overall gold content of the entire 1 kilogram sample.
The following results will be reported for a Screen Fire Assay:
| Total weight of sample | Reported in Grams |
| Weight of +150 µm material | Reported in Grams |
| Gold value of +150µm portion | Detection Limit = 1ppb |
| Duplicate Gold values of -150µm portion | Detection Limit = 1ppb |
| Weighted Average Gold result | Detection Limit = 1ppb |
Method Code : SFA01 utilises a 150µm sieve cloth.
Method Code : SFA02 utilises a 100µm sieve cloth.
Note : The above procedures can also be carried out using the Aqua Regia digest instead of Fire Assay.
