XRF finds it's major applications in the analysis of ore grade minerals and for whole rock analysis for major elements. Matrix corrections are well documented and the limited sample pre-treatment reduces the risk of errors that can occur in digestion processes, e.g. dilution, contamination. Higher accuracy is obtained where samples and standards are closely matched.
Ultra Trace uses two basic methods for preparing samples for measurement, these being pressed powder and glass fusion. Pressed powder techniques are usually used for trace level analysis. The glass fusion technique is used for high accuracy major element composition
